Nissan entered the Nissan GT-R GT1 racer at last weekend’s Total 24 Hours of Spa endurance race in preparation of its entry into next year’s FIA GT championship.
The car, entered by Nissan Motorsports (NISMO) and piloted by Michael Krumm of Germany, Darren Turner and Anthony Davidson, both from Britain, qualified in eighth position with Krumm behind the wheel. After competing for 24 hours, the car finished 56 laps down in thirteenth place overall and third in the GT1 class.
The race was won by Mike Hezemens, Anthony Kumpen, Jos Menten and Kurt Mollekens in a PK Carsport Corvette which finished 11 laps clear of Alessandro Pier Guidi, Stephane Lemeret, Carl Rosenbald and Vincent Vosse in a Vitaphone Racing Maserati. Third place went to Marc Basseng, Marcel Fässler, Alexandros Margaritis and Henri Moser in the Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS which also won the G2 class.
