Nissan and Chrysler released a joint statement today announcing the end of their partnership to produce three vehicles:
- A 2011 Nissan Titan based on the Chrysler Ram
- A small car for Chrysler based on the Nissan Tiida (the Nissan Versa in the U.S.)
- A compact sedan for Chrysler to sell in South American markets
Both Nissan and Chrysler have been studying the viability of the projects in the current market conditions and concluded that it is in the best interest of both companies to terminate the partnership. However, a separate agreement to supply Chrysler with transmissions from JATCO, a Nissan affiliate, remains unchanged.
