According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Nissan has issued a recall of 26,398 Nissan Altima and Nissan Maxima vehicles from the 2009-2010 model years.
The recall is to address an upper front strut insulator issue which could lead to a crack in the strut insulator. The front strut insulator might have been manufactured out of specification and, if cracked, could cause the strut rod to come out of its mounting position. This would compromise the vehicle’s stability and could cause a crash.
Nissan dealers will replace both front strut insulators at no charge.
Nissan Altima and Nissan Maxima owners with vehicles from the 2009-2010 model years may contact Nissan at 800-647-7261 or the NHTSA hotline at 888-327-4236.
